The Social Security Advocacy Project (SSAP)

provides assistance, advocacy, and direct representation to low-income individuals with disabilities in matters related to their eligibility for Social Security Disability (SSDI) and SSI benefits.
The project prioritizes cases for which it is difficult or impossible for the client to obtain representation through the private bar, either due to lack of fee generating potential or multiple barriers, such as mental illness, limited English proficiency, and chemical dependency which make the client challenging to serve.

The Disabled Homeless Advocacy Project (DHAP)

DHAP is based on the recognition that for those who remain unemployable because of their health, qualifying for federal disability benefits may be the only realistic path out of homelessness and into stable housing and medical care.
By collaborating with other organizations that provide services to the homeless community, DHAP proactively identifies disabled homeless individuals who may be eligible for SSI/SSDI benefits, both before and after they have begun the application process.
DHAP advocates are able to assist individuals at any part of the SSI/SSDI application process and will provide direct representation where necessary.

Mission Statement

The Seattle Community Law Center's mission is to provide accessible legal advocacy to people with physical and mental disabilities so that they may obtain the resources necessary to gain financial and medical stability. SCLC's strategy for achieving its mission is based upon the development and implementation of project-based advocacy that is carefully targeted and tailored to address advocacy needs unmet by existing legal aid and advocacy organizations.
